A small studio, working at the speed of the cloth

Thirty3rd began with a single carved block and a length of undyed cotton. It has not grown far past that. Every print in the collection is stamped by hand, one block and one colour at a time, by people who have been doing it long enough to know exactly how much pressure the cloth will take.

We work in small batches because that is the honest size for this kind of making. A run is as long as the block, the dye lot and the hands available will allow — and when it is finished, it is finished. Nothing is produced in quantities we would later need to discount.
